Richland County development officials want to suggestions from Pontiac residents and businesses for future community improvements.

The department of community planning and development is working on a Pontiac neighborhood master plan to guide growth in business, enhance residential living, and improve infrastructure.

“At this point, everything is on the table,” said Clayton Voignier, director of Richland County Community Planning and Development. “It could be anything from a park, to better access for transportation, more bus shelters. It could be better signage for their neighborhood.”

Pontiac residents and business owners can go to the Renew Pontiac website to see plans, draft maps and provide feedback on the project. The website also offers a survey for people to submit their opinions. County officials want input on housing, business growth, recreation and area beautification.

Voignier said the county wants as much community participation as possible.

The community planning and development department hosted two public input sessions in September.

Pontiac is the 11th neighborhood master plan Richland County has developed since 2004. Neighborhoods currently in different phases of implementation include the Broad River Road corridor, Trenholm Acres and the Capital City Mill District.
