Richland County residents who need to print vehicle tax bills so they can pay them in person can now do so at a kiosk at the county auditor’s office.

The auditor’s office installed the computerized kiosk in the second-floor lobby at the Richland County administration building, located at 2020 Hampton St., near the treasurer’s office payment windows, according to a news release from Richland County.

County residents have the option of paying vehicle taxes online or in person at the county treasurer’s office. The new kiosk will allow people to print their vehicle tax bills without waiting for a customer service agent at the county auditor’s office.

County Auditor Paul Brawley said the kiosk should reduce taxpayers’ wait time.

Previously, in-person taxpayers had to take their tax bill to the treasurer’s office or go to the auditor’s office to print the tax bill and then make the payment at the treasurer’s office.

The vehicle tax bills are prepared by the county auditor’s office but paid to the county treasurer.

At the new kiosk, taxpayers can enter either their vehicle license plate and the first three letters of their last name or their street address and last name. The printed bill can then be paid at the treasurer’s office.

“My office is continually looking for ways to better serve the public through available technology that reduces the need for additional employees and quickens wait times,” Brawley said. “The new kiosk does both.”

Taxpayers can also print their tax bills online. Bills can be paid online for an additional fee.
