Analysis finds S.C. ranks near bottom in health care

South Carolina ranks near the bottom when it comes to health care, according to a study by personal finance website Wallethub.

The state ranked 44th overall with a score of 46.14. The site compared 50 states and the District of Columbia in cost, access and outcome. South Carolina ranked 49th in cost, 32nd in access and 41st in outcome.

Wallethub used 40 metrics to grade each category. Each metric was graded on a 100-point scale with a score of 100 being the best most affordable health care.

Vermont finished first with an overall score of 66.31.
