Listen to this articleA new 31,000-square-foot athletic and rehabilitation facility at Palmetto Health USC Orthopedic Center in Lexington will combine technological advances for rehabilitating orthopedic patients and training athletes.
The Apex Athletic Performance and Palmetto Health-USC Orthopedic Center will hold the facility’s community grand opening on Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m. The two-story center, located at 102 Saluda Pointe, will provide physical and occupational therapy, wellness programs, nutrition services and sports performance testing and training.
The center will feature the only sports science lab in South Carolina with anaerobic capacity testing and the evaluation of sports-related movements, including pitching motions and golf swings, according to a news release. Other features include a rehabilitation treadmill pool complete with a moveable floor for variable water depths and the only publicly available 3D motion analysis center in the state, the release said.
