Recovered COVID-19 patients can donate plasma at a newly established site at the University of South Carolina’s Center for Health and Well-Being.
The site, in collaboration with Piedmont-based nonprofit blood bank The Blood Connection, is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. It is the first stationary collection site for convalescent plasma, which contains antibodies that may be useful in fighting the coronavirus, in the Midlands.
Plasma donors must have either had a positive COVID-19 test and been asymptomatic for at least 14 days or have had a positive antibody test.
Individuals can call 864-751-1168 to be screened.
Blood donations will also be accepted at the site. To schedule a blood donation, text USC to 70547.
