SCBIO 2021 life sciences conference adds speakers

Two speakers have joined the lineup of SCBIO’s 2021 life sciences conferences, to be held online Feb. 16-17.

Jamie Harper is a Microsoft vice president who leads the corporation’s higher education and K-12 initiatives, while Bill Stadtlander is commercial leader of Verily, a Google subsidiary focused on life sciences and use of health data and artificial intelligence to improve lives.

The conference, titled “The Power of Us,” also features Dr. Michelle McMurry-Heath, president and CEO of the Biotechnology Innovation Organization.

Harper has also worked for the Coco-Cola Co. and Westinghouse Electric Co. and holds degrees from Emory University and Clemson University.

Stadtlander has more than 15 years’ of commercial health care experience with prior roles at Ceribell, Element Science, Boston Scientific and McKinsey & Co. He holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School and MIT.

Other event speakers include Harris Pastides, former president of the University of South Carolina and outgoing chair of the S.C. Institute of Medicine and Public Health; Courtney Christian, senior director of policy and research at PhRMA; Dr. Pat Cawley, CEO of MUSC Health; and Dr. Marjorie Jenkins, dean of the University of South Carolina School of Medicine.

The two-day event will feature a virtual exhibit hall showcasing S.C.’s $12 billion life sciences industry and the presentation of South Carolina Life Sciences’ Pinnacle Awards. SCBIO CEO Sam Konduros will deliver a keynote address, and attendees can schedule meetings with industry executives.
