A picture is worth a thousand words — or at least a few clicks.

Three winners have been recognized in the #LoveColumbia photo challenge. The City of Columbia’s public and media relations department announced winners on social media platforms Facebook, Instagram and Twitter earlier this week.

The contest, which encourages Columbia residents to submit photos of their city, is in its fifth year. The public had a say in the voting process, which included liking, retweeting, commenting or favoriting the images.

Miller Hyatt won in the Facebook category for his photo of fireworks at a Columbia Fireflies game. Rita Pratte won for her Instagram image of the huge fire hydrant at Busted Plug Plaza at Taylor and Marion streets. Anna Peterson topped Twitter with her photo of the nighttime Columbia skyline.
