State park revenue continued to rise in July, according to indicators from the S.C. Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism.
State parks generated $3,938,811 in total revenue, an 8.1% increase from July 2017 and an 8.1% jump in year-to-date revenue from the previous fiscal year. July 2018 became the second-highest revenue month on record.
South Carolina also saw an increase in hotel revenue per available room, a performance metric calculated by dividing a hotel’s total room revenue by the room count and number of days in the period being measured.
Statewide hotel RevPAR increased 2% from July of 2017 and increased 2.1% in year-to-date RevPAR. Overall room revenue was up 4.1% year to date.
In other key indicators, Charleston International Airport reported a 20.6% increase in deplanements in July compared with the same month in 2017. Overall, deplanements at S.C.’s five measured airports increased 11.5% for the month.
Columbia Metropolitan Airport saw an 11.4% increase in deplanements in July compared with the same month in 2017. CAE deplanements are up 8% year to date.
The admissions tax report for August reflects July business. The collection for July 2018 was $4,245,121, down 2.1% from July 2017 but up 0.9% year to date.
