Fall is finally in the air, and what better way to bring together a community than beer and bratwurst?

Oktoberfest Columbia was held Oct. 12-14 at Incarnation Lutheran Church on Devine Street, and families and friends flocked to sample tasty treats and listen to German music. Among the performers was the German Connection Band, made up of several natives of Germany who met while working for the Charleston branch of manufacturer Bosch and who now travel the Oktoberfest circuit in retirement.

The prost spirit can also be found on autumn Tuesdays at Riverwalk Park, where local craft brewer Bierkeller Columbia is serving up deliciousness, including its seasonal Festbeir, until Nov. 27. The scenic background provides an ideal spot for humans and their four-legged friends to enjoy the long-awaited cooler temperatures.

A hundred beers and live music will be on tap tonight at Pints in the Park at Spirit Communications Park. The event starts at 7 p.m.

Columbia's Famously Hot S.C. Pride Festival also kicks off tonight with a street party and a parade down Main Street. Events continue throughout the weekend at various downtown locations.

The S.C. State Fair wraps up on Sunday. Admission is from noon to 8 p.m. Rides close at 10 p.m.&
