A free daily circus will be one of the new attractions at the 150th South Carolina State Fair, set for Oct. 9-20 at the S.C. State Fairgrounds.

Themed Prize-Winning Memories, the fair will feature circus performances including high-wire artists, daredevil motorists, clowns and more in an hour-long show which will take place three times each day at a 1,300-seat big top.

There is no additional cost to attend the circus.

“We want to offer our patrons even more ways to enjoy the fair with their families this year, and this circus will combine a mix of the new with nostalgic entertainment that has captivated our state through the years,” Nancy Smith, State Fair general manager, said in a news release.

This year’s fair will also include a pictorial postal cancellation stamp marking the 150th anniversary, a history of the fair and a display of fair memorabilia.

“Our state fair is a celebration of everything that is great about South Carolina, and we are excited to put that greatness on display again during our special 150th anniversary event,” Smith said.

The 2019 state fair will also feature free daily concerts, 70-plus midway rides, nearly 70 food stands, arts and crafts displays, livestock exhibits and pig races.

Discount admission and ride tickets go on sale Sept. 4.
