Annual chili cook-off to heat up Five Points on Oct. 26

Listen to this articleThe 32nd annual Five Points Chili Cook-Off will be held Oct. 26.
The event, which takes place near Tanneyhill’s Group Therapy at 2107 Greene St., will pit local chili cooks against one another while giving hungry visitors the chance to taste dozens of chili selections, ranging from mild to five-alarm.
Each participating team is required to make at least 15 gallons of chili and must provide its own heat source. A complete list of cook-off rules can be found online.
Five Points will also hold trick-or-treating on Oct. 31 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Participating businesses include Bar None, Drip Coffee, Papa Jazz Record Shoppe, Publico Kitchen & Tap and Village Idiot Pizza.
Next month, Five Points will highlight area businesses during Small Business Saturday on Nov. 30. For the second year, the Village Idiot will participate in Pizza for Preemies. All locations will donate a percentage of monthly sales for November to the March of Dimes.
