Experience Columbia SC chooses new group of local ambassadors

A new group of Columbia locals has been chosen for the fourth year of Experience Columbia SC’s ambassador program.

The ambassadors provide prospective visitors with an authentic local perspective and represent regional entrepreneurs, makers, professionals, parents, foodies and creatives. The new ambassadors were announced Thursday, in conjunction with the publication of the 2022 Columbia SC Insider’s Guide.

The 2022 ambassadors are: Michal Mayo, executive director of tubing and kayaking outfitter Palmetto Outdoor; Angela Young Sellers, the owner of Fit Columbia in Five Points and an adjunct professor at the University of South Carolina; Preach Jacobs, a local hip-hop artist and columnist; and Ashley Cady-Elsey, a brand and communications consultant. 

“At Experience Columbia SC, we work to inspire travel to our region,” Kelly Barbery, Experience Columbia vice president of marketing and communications, said in a news release. “We know that when people travel, they want to go where the locals go. They want to know where locals eat and what their typical Saturday looks like.

“Our ambassador program provides potential visitors the opportunity to see how locals enjoy the Columbia area and shows them how to create those experiences during their trip.”
