Summer hiring outlook robust

Babysitter, camp counselor and teacher are the top, short-term jobs this summer, but if you're hiring anyone for the immediate short-term, you might want to hurry. It's a seller's market.

Online recruiting tool Indeed reports that job postings are at a three-year high, which is indicative of the robust job market across the U.S. and in South Carolina. The Palmetto State had a 4.2% jobless rate for April, the latest data from the S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce show, and the statewide decline in unemplyoment is mirrored in Richland and Lexington counties. 

In Richland, unemployment dropped from 4% in March to 2.8% in April, and in Lexington, the rate fell from 3.4% in March to 2.4% in April. 

Statewide, employment numbers increased by 318 to a record level of 2,225,570.

The national unemployment rate dropped to 3.9% in April from 4.1% in March.
