Grants aim to help people with criminal records get jobs

South Carolina is one of 24 states receiving more than $2.2 million to help people with criminal records find jobs, according to a news release from the United States Department of Labor.

South Carolina is getting $64, 373. Most of the other 23 states are getting $100,000.

The Federal Bonding Program issues free-of-charge fidelity bonds to employers to help them place employees who have criminal records or other applicants considered at-risk. Since the program was created in 1966, more than 52,000 people have found jobs through the program, according to the release.
