The operator of a residential care facility in Saluda County has been arrested on charges of failing to file South Carolina income tax returns and failing to report more than $890,000 in gross income.

The S.C. Department of Revenue said in a news release that Idora Hazel Clarke, 66, of Saluda did not file individual income tax returns with the state between the tax years of 2016 and 2018. Clarke failed to pay $9,750 in state taxes on $312,000 of taxable income, according to arrest warrants.

Clarke is charged with three counts of failing to file tax returns, pay taxes and keep tax records, according to the release.

If convicted, Clarke faces up to $10,000 in fines or up to one year in prison per charge.
