Fort Mill man faces charges of failing to pay taxes

The owner of a Lancaster County fiberglass insulation installation company has been arrested and charged with five counts of failing to collect, account for, or pay withholding tax for a five-year period.

S.C. Department of Revenue agents arrested Robert Michael Sims, 57, of Fort Mill on Tuesday. Sims is charged with failing to pay a total of $43,336 in state income tax withheld from employees’ paychecks for tax years 2014 through 2018, according to arrest warrants. Sims made one voluntary payment of $4,422 to the state revenue department, according to the warrants.  

If convicted, Sims faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison and/or a fine of $10,000 for each count. He is being held in the Lancaster County Detention Facility pending a bond hearing.
