Augusta Fiberglass Coatings Inc. will invest $625,000 and add 12 jobs to its operations in Blackville.
The company, which manufacturers custom fiberglass reinforced plastic equipment, currently employs 230 workers at its 300,000-square-foot headquarters in Barnwell County.
Augusta Fiberglass annually converts millions of pounds of resin and fiberglass fabric into custom-designed tanks, ducks, scrubbers, stack liners and other equipment. Its expertise in resin and catalyst formulations, including fire-retardant additives and materials, produces corrosion-resistant products.
The expansion will include the construction of 12,000-square-foot building.
“We are delighted to be able to expand our operations in South Carolina to better serve our customers while investing in the local community where our business was founded,” said Augusta Fiberglass president John W. Boyd in a news release.
Founded in 1974, Augusta Fiberglass also has two additional sites in Ocean Springs, Miss., and one in Angleton, Texas.
“Companies like Augusta Fiberglass are the backbone of our community,” said Barnwell County Economic Development Commission chairman Steve Jowers. “Every job they create is a new opportunity for a family here at home.”
