Sunstrand investing $8.4M in Florence facility

Natural fiber manufacturer Sunstrand LLC is investing $8.4 million in an operation facility in Florence County expected to create 42 jobs.

Sunstrand, based in Louisville, Ky., works with farming partners to procure natural materials used in the production of bulk biomaterials for preform manufacturers, wastewater remediation companies and animal bedding distributors across North America.

The 14,000-square-foot manufacturing facility, located at 1728 North River Road in Pamplico, is projected to be operational in early 2019. Hiring for new positions is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2018. Interested applicants can visit www.sunstrands.com.

“Sunstrand is excited about our expansion into South Carolina,” CEO Trey Riddle said in a news release.
“This investment will see the deployment of a major processing facility that builds a new industry from the ground up. Considering our need for world-class farmers, an accessible workforce and access to manufacturers in the region, South Carolina is the perfect location.”
