Schuff Steel Co. is investing $9 million in new manufacturing operations in York County expected to create 180 jobs.

Schuff Steel, an operating subsidiary of HC2 Holdings Inc. and part of the DBM Global Inc. portfolio, is a large North American structural steel fabricator and erector. Its eight nationwide plants consist of more than 1.47 million square feet and produce more than 318,000 tons of steel each year.

“Expanding our manufacturing operations to York County will enhance Schuff Steel’s fabrication capabilities and capacity in the eastern region of the United States,” DBM Global CEO Rustin Roach said in a news release. “York County and the S.C. Department of Commerce have been great partners in helping us expand into South Carolina, and we are grateful for all their efforts. We expect to be an active employer in Rock Hill and look forward to becoming part of the community.”

Schuff Steel will renovate a 148,000-square-foot facility on a 45-acre site at 1345 Hall Spencer Road in Rock Hill. Operations are expected to begin by the fourth quarter of 2018, with hiring slated to take place in the third quarter.
