Maxwood Furniture Inc. is locating a new $1.8 million distribution center in Marion County in an investment expected to create 21 jobs.

Maxwood Furniture, founded 15 years ago and headquartered in Charleston County, specializes in the design, production and distribution of solid wood bedroom furniture. The company, which manufacturers four brands and custom offerings, is currently warehousing with a third-party logistics provider.

“Maxwood is excited to further grow our successful operation in South Carolina by opening our own distribution center in Mullins,” Maxwood Furniture president Stephen Jensen said in a news release. “The location and people of South Carolina provide the perfect environment for us as a fast-growing entrepreneurial company.”

The company’s 130-000-square-foot warehouse will be located at 3630 East Highway 76 in Mullins.  Hiring is expected to begin this month. Interested applicants can visit www.scworks.org.

“Marion County is very proud that we were chosen as a new home for Maxwood Furniture, and we are here to support this business every step of the way, both as an industry and as a new member of our community,” Marion County Council chair Buddy Collins said.
