The QM Group investing $9.5M in Orangeburg facility

The Quality Model Group of companies (The QM Group) is investing $9.5 million in an expansion of its Orangeburg County plastic injection molding operations expected to create 37 jobs.

Headquartered in Ontario, The QM Group specializes in mold building injection and urethane molding, thermoforming and secondary assembly. It operates five North American facilities, with its Orangeburg location operating in the company’s plastics division.

“The QM Group is pleased to reaffirm, through this investment, our confidence in the Orangeburg community and in South Carolina for fostering the appropriate competitive advantages for our business,” Bill Szekesy, founder and owner of The QM Group, said in a news release. “Our preference for this location has been established to the point where we have now designated it as our U.S. operations headquarters. We are excited to be part of the growing community of businesses who are now calling South Carolina home.”

The Orangeburg operations, located at 190 Global Drive in Orangeburg, opened in 2005. Since then, the company has invested more than $16 million in the facility and created 100 jobs, the release said.
