Max Metcalf, manager of government and community relations at BMW Manufacturing Co., has been elected chairman of the S.C. Manufacturers Alliance’s board of directors.

A 1986 graduate of Clemson, Metcalf served as the director of transportation and intergovernmental relations for former S.C. governor Carroll Campbell, in the office of former S.C. congressman Bob Inglis and as vice president of the Greater Greenville Chamber of Commerce before joining BMW in 2001.

“I am honored to be elected by my colleagues to serve as chairman of such an important organization for manufacturers,” Metcalf said in a news release.  “As the voice of South Carolina manufacturing, SCMA has been the leader for more than a century in representing the needs and interests of manufacturers throughout our state. I look forward to continuing the work to strengthen our industry.”

Joining Metcalf on the organization’s executive committee are: April Allen, Continental Tire, first vice chairman; Todd Croker, Fujifilm Manufacturing USA, second vice chairman; and Curtis Hutto, Thompson Construction Group, treasurer.
