PurePower Technologies, which supplies diesel fuel injection systems for Ford Motor Co. and other diesel engine manufacturers, is expanding its Richland County operations.

The company will invest $5.4 million in machinery and other equipment to increase production capacity and efficiency at its Blythewood facility during the first two years of a new fee-in-lieu-of-tax agreement with the county. Additional investment is expected after two years, according to a news release from Richland County.

“PurePower’s investment in its Richland County operations is a testament to the company’s success in our community,” Richland County Council Chair Overture Walker said in the release. “Council is proud to assist PurePower in its expansion effort, as they have proven to be a valuable asset and employer for the county.”

A wholly owned subsidiary of Stanadyne, PurePower operates a 200,000-square-foot manufacturing and engineering facility at the Northpoint Industrial Park which employs more than 300 workers.

“PurePower Technologies and the Economic Development Office of Richland County have been strong partners since the startup of the Blythewood facility in 1999,” John Pinson, president and managing director of Stanadyne, said. “Our strong partnership with Richland County continues to foster a climate of economic development in which we can grow our business.”
