Pawmetto Lifeline has received a $7,500 grant from the Grey Muzzle Organization to provide care for at-risk senior dogs in South Carolina.

Pawmetto Lifeline was one of 66 organizations chosen from among 300 applicants in 30 states to receive a grant.

“In the shelter, we have seen an increase of the intake of senior dogs needing care for complicated but treatable diseases,” Pawmetto Lifeline CEO Denise Wilkinson said in a release. “The grant funds allow Pawmetto Lifeline to pull more senior dogs to provide them with the medical care they must have to maintain a high quality of life.”

The Grey Muzzle Organization, a national nonprofit, has provided nearly $1.5 million in grants during the past decade.

“Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we’re delighted to help deserving organizations like Pawmetto Lifeline make a difference in the lives of dogs and people in their communities,” Grey Muzzle executive director Lisa Lunghofer said. “Many senior dogs in the Midlands of South Carolina are enjoying their golden years in loving homes thanks to the wonderful work of Pawmetto Lifeline.”
