Midlands Gives and Central Carolina Community Foundation along with the Columbia Fireflies helped raise $9,000 for 48 different nonprofit organizations.

Groups took part in the “Pack the Park for Midlands Gives” fundraising event. It gave nonprofits the opportunity to sell tickets to the Aug. 7 Columbia Fireflies game to help raise money and awareness for their organizations.

“Pack the Park is a great annual opportunity for us to support numerous nonprofits from our local community,” John Katz, Fireflies team president, said in a release. “We are excited to be donating a record amount this season.”

Each nonprofit receives a percentage of the money from ticket sales. The Fireflies donated extra money to the top three selling nonprofits. Family Promise of the Midlands raised the most money and set a record for number of tickets sold by a single organization.

Ashlie DeCarlo, Fireflies marketing/client service manager said it has been incredible to watch the event’s growth since starting in 2016. This year, the event sold a record-setting 1,700 tickets.
