CreateAthon marketing marathon to benefit 8 S.C. nonprofits

Eight S.C. nonprofits have been selected as beneficiaries of the 21st annual CreateAthon, a 24-hour blitz of marketing and communication services provided by marketing consultant Riggs Partners.

The West Columbia-based firm founded CreateAthon in 1998. Since the program’s national expansion in 2002, it has attracted more than 100 agencies, universities, professional organizations and corporate marketing partners and served more than 1,300 nonprofits with pro bono marketing projects valued at more than $24 million, the company said.

“Every CreateAthon opens us up to the work that’s being done every day by people who have dedicated their careers to tackling the issues that make our communities stronger,” Teresa Coles, president of Riggs Partners and co-founder of CreateAthon, said in a news release. “We’re grateful to have the opportunity to work with these groups and develop communications strategies that can help move their work forward. Best of all, we love getting to know everyone and cheering them on as their organizations grow.”

This year’s marketing marathon will begin at 8 a.m. Oct. 18. West Columbia commercial printer Sun Solutions will donate printing and production services for marketing materials created during the event.
