People who would like to donate to Midlands Gives won’t have to wait until May for the annual giving challenge event anymore. The Central Carolina Community Foundation has announced that Midlands Gives now includes a year-round online donation platform.

Registration is now open for Midlands-area nonprofit groups to become beneficiaries of the annual Midlands Gives community giving challenge, according to a news release from the foundation, which organizes the annual donation campaign.

Nonprofits can register for Midlands Gives through Nov. 19. Returning nonprofits will have to log into their existing Midlands Gives profile and opt in to participate in the year-round platform. New nonprofits must fill out an online application and participate in a training session.

Since it was founded in 2014, Midlands Gives has raised more than $9.3 million for nonprofit organizations throughout central South Carolina. The May 2019 campaign raised more than $2 million in 14,323 individual donations for 411 area nonprofits.

Also available this year are Giving eCards that can be purchased and given as gifts. The eCards can be purchased online and are redeemable for the recipient’s donation to a participating nonprofit.

“We hope that the new platform becomes a resource for the community to connect with local nonprofits and creates additional opportunities for philanthropy to flourish,” JoAnn Turnquist, president and CEO of the Central Carolina Community Foundation, said in a news release.

Nonprofits registering by Oct. 31 will be eligible for priority consideration for marketing opportunities, a consultation with a foundation staff member and a special prize opportunity.
