The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has made housing relief funding immediately available to qualified S.C. veterans amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic through a national nonprofit.
The Alston Wilkes Society’s Supportive Services for Veteran Families program has been allocated additional funding to help with rental or utility assistance, according to a news release from the organization. The program, established in 2011, rehouses homeless veterans and works to prevent homelessness for at-risk individuals.
The Alston Wilkes Society, which aids at-risk youth, the homeless, offenders and former offenders, and veterans, has served South Carolina since 1962.
