Housing relief funding available for qualified veterans

Listen to this articleThe U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has made housing relief funding immediately available to qualified S.C. veterans amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic through a national nonprofit.
The Alston Wilkes Society’s Supportive Services for Veteran Families program has been allocated additional funding to help with rental or utility assistance, according to a news release from the organization. The program, established in 2011, rehouses homeless veterans and works to prevent homelessness for at-risk individuals.
The Alston Wilkes Society, which aids at-risk youth, the homeless, offenders and former offenders, and veterans, has served South Carolina since 1962.
