Leadership Columbia, the Columbia Chamber of Commerce’s flagship leadership development program, is seeking proposals for its 2021 class project.

Each year, the Leadership Columbia class chooses a project to create a positive community impact. The 2020 class upgraded the facilities at Palmetto Place Children & Youth Services.

Eligible nonprofits must be located within the chamber’s six-county area of Richland, Lexington, Fairfield, Kershaw, Calhoun, and Newberry counties. Proposals must be submitted online by Aug. 24.

The 40 candidates in the 2021 class will complete the project by April 2021, according to a news release from the chamber.

Leadership Columbia, founded in 1972, is a 10-month program which includes a retreat and monthly sessions. Participants take a hands-on approach to tackling community issues including education, government, arts and culture, criminal justice, and health services.
