The Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina has awarded grants totaling $837,000 to 100 nonprofit organizations working to reduce poverty throughout the state.
Since 1996, the foundation has awarded 3,300-plus grants to South Carolina nonprofits totaling more than $82 million.
“It is an honor to support this group of nonprofit partners who are working tirelessly to provide hope for people experiencing poverty in South Carolina,” Donna Waites, foundation president and CEO, said in a news release. “Our foundation’s mission could not be fulfilled without these impactful organizations and their loving service to others.”
The grants are awarded to nonprofits working to meet the immediate needs of people experiencing poverty, breaking the cycle of poverty or changing systems that are drivers of poverty.
