Neal has been the station’s content manager for the past 10 years. She will begin her new position on Sept. 8.
“I am humbled by the responsibility of this position,” Neal said in a news release. “I can’t wait to build on the great work that we here at WLTX are doing by telling the stories of our community and advocating for the people who live here. I’m confident that great things are ahead.”
Neal joined WLTX in 2007 as producer of the station’s Friends@5 program. She previously served as a news producer at WIS-TV.
“Sharranda is already a vital part of News 19,” Rich O’Dell, president and general manager of WLTX-TV. “Her solid journalistic background and intimate knowledge of our community have positioned her well to take on the role of news director.”
Current WLTX news director Julie Eisenman moves to the position of director of content. In addition to her duties at WLTX, Eisenman also provides editorial oversight for TEGNA’s national Verify team.
