Richland Library will play host to award-winning journalist Craig Melvin’s first event on his virtual book tour on June 13.

Melvin, TODAY Show news anchor and author of Pops: Learning to Be a Son and a Father, will participate in a moderated discussion with WIS-TV anchor Judi Gatson from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. Online registration is available for the free program.

Melvin, a Columbia native, writes about his relationship with his father and their journey to reconciliation in his new book, which will be released June 15. He also shares stories about a series of surrogate fathers, including teachers and career mentors.

A 2001 graduate of Wofford College, Melvin worked for WIS before anchoring the evening newscasts at WRC-TV in Washington, D.C. He moved on to MSNBC in 2011 before joining NBC’s TODAY in 2018. He is a news anchor on the program, a co-host of the show’s 3rd hour, an MSNBC live anchor and a host of Dateline NBC.
