Mary Sparrow of Chesnut Cottage LLC has purchased a historic bed and breakfast at 1718 Hampton St. in Columbia’s central business district.
Colliers International South Carolina’s Mary Winter Teaster represented the buyer in the transaction.
Chesnut Cottage, built in 1850, once served as the home of Gen. James and Mary Boykin Chesnut. James Chesnut served as brigadier general and governor of South Carolina, while Mary Boykin Chesnut kept a famous diary that chronicled life in the South during the Civil War.
Teaster also facilitated the purchase and sale of an office building near Forest Drive. The building, located at 1556 Sunnyside Drive, was sold by DCS Holdings LLC to the law firm of Deyaska Spencer.
The building was occupied for 12 years by a salon and apothecary, according to a release from Colliers.
