Richland County has purchased more than 400 acres of industrial land at the intersection of Shop Road and Longwood Road in Columbia.

The 429 acre-tract, sold for $5.92 million, was purchased from Garners Ferry Development and the Wyman Boozer estate, according to a news release from NAI Columbia.

NAI Columbia’s Tom Milliken, Tombo Milliken and Nelson Weston III facilitated the transaction.

“This purchase took over 15 years to accomplish and is a testament to the county’s continued initiative of smart growth,” Tom Milliken, NAI senior broker and principal, said in the release. “The expansive tract is near the previously built China Jushi plant and across Longwood Road from the recently announced Mark Anthony Brewing Company.”

In November, Mark Anthony Brewing announced plans for a $400 million brewery and production facility expected to create 300 jobs. The facility, to be located in Pineview Industrial Park, will produce

hard seltzer and flavored malt beverages such as White Claw Hard Seltzer, Mike’s Hard Lemonade and Cayman Jack Cocktails.

The tract adjoins approximately 500 acres previously acquired by Richland County as an enlargement of Pineview Industrial Park. The park is rail-served and near Interstate 77.
