The Palmetto State’s Realtors trade association is taking applications from victims of the recent flooding for mortgage and rent relief.
The Realtors Relief Foundation, a partnership between the S.C. Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors, is offering up to $1,000 to qualified applicants for mortgage expenses or the cost of temporary housing as a result of displacement, a news release from the state group said.
The $1,000 grant is available only to full-time S.C. residents who suffered property damage to their primary residence during the flooding earlier this month, the news release said.
“Realtors want to help — it’s what we do in our communities every day,” S.C. Realtors President Fritzi Barbour said in a statement. “This grant will provide short-term assistance with mortgage or rent payments and allow victims to focus on rebuilding and repairing their homes.”
Individual Realtors and Realtors associations across the country donated or pledged more than $300,000 to the foundation for flood victims, the news release said. Donations to the fund are still being accepted from Realtors online or by mail to Realtors Relief Foundation, care of the National Association of Realtors, 430 N. Michigan Ave., Chicago, IL 60611.
Applications for assistance, which are available online (.pdf), must be submitted by Nov. 30.
