Online voters will have until Jan. 31 to decide which of five area charities will receive the largest donation from net proceeds of the sale of a house being flipped in the Shandon area by The Moore Co.

The donation could exceed $100,000, the Columbia real estate firm said in a news release. All five charities will receive a percentage of the net profits from the sale, with the top vote-getter receiving the largest share. The Moore Co. said renovations on the house, which have included public votes on design choices, are more than halfway complete.

Achieve Columbia: Provides resources for survivors of childhood trauma.

Camp Cole: An ADA-compliant, state-of-the-art facility being built in the Midlands for children and adults facing serious illness and other physical and mental health challenges.

The Therapy Place: Provides therapies and recreational opportunities for children with special needs in a family-friendly environment and also offers resources and education for parents/caregivers.

Midlands Fatherhood Coalition: Provides resources to help Midlands fathers overcome obstacles to being a responsible and involved parent.

The Women’s Shelter: Provides resources to help homeless women become healthy, safe and self-sufficient.

“We asked for voters to nominate nonprofits to receive this donation and we were overwhelmed by the response,” Graeme Moore, owner of The Moore Co., said in the release. “We believe the five groups we’ve selected each tackle an important area of need in our community. Due to the incredible generosity of our neighbors and partnering businesses, every chosen nonprofit will financially benefit from this project.”

The Flip & Give project began in July and is expected to be completed early next year. Online voters have chosen a bathroom layout, kitchen countertops, roof style and exterior paint colors, among other design features.
