Crafty Crab, a casual dining seafood chain with five restaurants throughout Florida, is opening its first Midlands location in Columbia.

The restaurant has leased the 4,577-square-foot site of the former Applebee’s at 245 O’Neil Court. NAI Columbia director of retail services Patrick Palmer represented the landlord in the transaction.

The Shops at O’Neil Court, home to a division of the S.C. Department of Motor Vehicles and a Buddhist community center, added new tenants last year including Pockets, a restaurant and bar, as well as an after-school science program.

The area Applebee’s closed in March 2017.

Crafty Crab’s menu options include – naturally – crab, along with lobster, crawfish, calamari and a low country boil featuring house-made seasoning.
