Editor's note: Story update on Friday, May 3, to include S.C. Department of Revenue signage at Cayce location.

Satterfield’s Jewelry Warehouse is closing its locations in Lexington and Cayce, according to messages to customers and a tweet from the company.

Jewelry Warehouse is located at 228 Knox Abbot Drive in Cayce and 5134 Sunset Boulevard in Lexington. A sign at the Cayce location states that the business was closed by a revocation order of the S.C. Department of Revenue.

"Retail Sales Tax License Revoked," reads the sign, which has the revenue department's logo in the upper lefthand corner. The store door was locked.

The company’s website has a message reading: “Sorry for the inconvenience, but our website will be down and stores will be closed Monday, April 20 through Wednesday, May 1. Look for an announcement coming Thursday, May 2.”

The Jewelry Warehouse sites adjoin sister stores Garnet and Black Traditions and Tiger Paw Traditions, which sell sports memorabilia. Both those stores’ websites featured the same message.

A phone message left for customers on Wednesday said a clearance sale will begin Thursday, and an email sent Thursday morning touted a “foreclosure liquidation” sale, run by Capital Liquidation LLC, with merchandise discounted as much as 70%.

A message to Jewelry Warehouse was not immediately returned.

In a tweet to the Columbia Regional Business Report, Satterfield's Jewelry Warehouse said: "We are closed today due some legalities … but Yes, we will re-open soon. We just want to let all our customers know that any jewelry repair orders and such WILL be able to be picked up as soon as we re-open. Thank you!!"

In response to a tweeted reply from CRBR asking if the email advertising the liquidation sale including the words "We are closing!" is correct, Jewelry Warehouse said: "Yes, we are having a Foreclosure Sale and Jewelry Warehouse stores will be closing. Please see our Facebook page and twitter page for additional updates."

The pinned tweet on the company's Twitter page and the top post on its Facebook page read: "Sorry for the inconvenience, but both our store locations are currently CLOSED today, May 2. Additional information will be posted as soon as we are able to re-open."

The tweet and post also note: "Comments concerning this issue, will not be answered."

A Facebook post also tells customers that they will be able to pick up jewelry repair orders "as soon as we re-open. More details will be posted here as soon as we find out. Thank you for your patience."

A Jewelry Warehouse location, along with the adjoining sports merchandise stores, at 10136 Two Notch Road closed in 2014. The company announced on its Facebook page last July that it would be closing its location at 1270 Bower Parkway off Harbison Boulevard after deciding not to renew that store’s lease.

The website message said orders already placed will still be processed and directed questions to 1-800-537-8072.
