Workplace strategy and office furnishing company Alfred Williams & Co., with S.C. offices in Columbia, Greenville and Charleston, has acquired Texas-based interior office design firm Workplace Resource.

The deal, finalized July 1, will form a combined company with annual revenue of more than $200 million, according to a news release from Alfred Williams. Austin-based Workplace Resource will add that market, along with San Antonio and Louisiana, to an Alfred Williams portfolio that also includes Charlotte and Nashville, Tenn.

“For more than 150 years, Alfred Williams & Co. has been driven by smart, creative and talented people,” Blount Williams, chairman and CEO of AWC, said in the release. “This expansion will help us fulfill our mission of defining, designing, and delivering spaces that matter, something that takes on even more significance as employees return to offices across the country. This acquisition opens up new regions for us to increase revenues while offering the same excellent customer service and quality products our customers have come to expect.”

Alfred Williams, one of Herman Miller’s largest North American dealers and a partner for DIRTT Environmental Solutions, will continue to offer the line of products supplied by both AWC and Workplace Resource, and all Workplace Resource employees will be retained, according to the release.

“Our succession strategy included a critical list of characteristics we believed would ensure long-term success for our employees,” Virginia Visser, who served as principal for Workforce Resource, said. “Alfred Williams & Co. checks every box, as a highly respected business who cares deeply about their employees and communities. The cultural alignment between our organizations is simply remarkable. We are extremely excited for the future this transition creates for Workplace Resource team members.”
