Tammy Mainwaring has been named president of IT-oLogy, a nonprofit organization working to grow the IT talent pipeline and advance the profession in South Carolina.
Mainwaring joined IT-oLogy in February 2016 as chief operating officer, according to a press release. Mainwaring, who succeeded Lonnie Emard, was named interim president in November and the interim label was removed Feb. 8.
In her new position, Mainwaring is responsible for direction of the organization, strategic planning, working with the board and other key stakeholders, managing staff, and building relationships within the community.
She has almost 30 years of IT and teaching experience and previously served as an I/S training manager at BlueCross BlueShield South Carolina.
Prior to BlueCross, Mainwaring was manager for Instructional Technology at the S.C. Department of Education where she managed several million dollar grants, accounted for grant funds, reported on progress, and developed return on investment documentation.
Her work with IT strategic planning, assistive technologies, and grant outcomes evaluation was highlighted by the U.S. Department of Education and in THE Journal magazine. She also developed networks throughout the state and nation in the K-12 schools, universities, state departments of education and the legislature.
