Global location content provider Nearmap has captured high-resolution aerial maps of areas in North and South Carolina affected by Hurricane Florence, including Myrtle Beach and Wilmington, N.C.

The imagery supports the cleanup and recovery efforts of public safety companies, utilities, insurance agencies and various contractors, the company said in a news release. Viewers can assess flooding and property damage using the maps.

The imagery includes about 4,530 square kilometers along the coastline from Myrtle Beach to Newport, N.C., covering a population of around 752,000 people, Nearmap said. The captures include previous aerial maps of more than 30,000 square kilometers in North and South Carolina dating back to 2014.

“A key element to the recovery efforts is having access not only to high-resolution imagery from after the storm, but also to historical aerial captures from before the storm hit,” said Rob Newman, CEO and managing director of Nearmap. “Historical captures provide consistency and contrast, enabling crews to look at the current truth on the ground and compare it to previous time periods to help assess the damage along the coastlines.”
