The city of Cayce has won an achievement award for its use of mapping and analytics technology from a global location intelligence company Esri.

Cayce’s Geographic Information System was one of 193 organizations from more than 300,000 entries to receive Special Achievement in GIS award. Entries spanned fields from defense and transportation industries to nonprofit and government sectors.

“It is truly an incredible honor for the city because we were selected based on recommendations from other GIS professionals,” Tracy Hegler, Cayce City Manager, said in a news release. “Our staff, notably GIS analyst/technician Robert Hawks, works incredibly hard on this technology, and it’s great to see that work is getting noticed.”

Cayce’s integration of new GIS technologies into its day-to-day operations was noted, along with the city’s speed in implementing GIS capabilities.
