The Tri-County Global Industrial Site, a 380-acre rail-served location just off Interstate 26 and U.S. Highway 601, is now open for business.

Tri-County Electric Cooperative, in partnership with economic development organization SC Power Team, unveiled the site on the Norfolk Southern main line on Friday.

A 45-acre building pad is in place, and the site on the I-26 corridor between Orangeburg and Columbia offers 500,000 gallons per day in excess water and wastewater capacity, according to a news release.

“We’re excited to now offer the Tri-County Global Industrial Site to industries that want to take advantage of the in-place infrastructure and ideal location close to major interstates such as 26, 95, 77 and 20, thriving airports in Columbia and Charleston, and one of the largest seaports in the country on Charleston Harbor,” Chad Lowder, CEO of Tri-County Electric Cooperative, said in the release.

Tri-County Electric Cooperative serves parts of six S.C. counties: Calhoun, Kershaw, Lexington, Orangeburg, Richland and Sumter.

The SC Power team represents South Carolina’s 20 electric cooperatives in their economic development efforts.

“We’re proud to partner with Tri-County Electric Cooperative on this robust new industrial site, and we’re certain it will serve as another linchpin to the continuing economic and industrial growth of South Carolina,” James Chavez, president and CEO of the SC Power Team, said.
