New free parking garage opens in West Columbia

Listen to this articlePeople who want to visit shops at the mixed-use Brookland development, venues at State or Meeting streets or the Riverwalk and Amphitheater in West Columbia now have a new parking option.
The City of West Columbia opened a new parking garage this weekend at 310 Court Ave. off State Street in the Brookland development. Parking in the garage is free.
The garage adds 105 parking spaces to the West Columbia Riverwalk area, and the city plans to add about 95 more free parking spaces in a future project, according to a news release.
Visitors to the West Columbia River District now have three options for free parking: the Brookland Public Parking Garage, Interactive Art Park at 436 Meeting St. or Capitol Square Plaza at 463 Sunset Boulevard.
