COMET to play host to online transit system academy

Listen to this articleThe Central Midlands Regional Transit Authority is accepting applications for the COMET Academy, a leadership program for people interesting in understanding public transit.
The free program will be held online for 60-minute sessions on Mondays from Sept. 28 through Oct. 26. Attendees will receive an in-depth, behind-the-scenes look at the COMET transit system.
“It is our plan to empower community and business leaders with knowledge of the inner workings, history and future goals of public transit in the Midlands,” John Andoh, COMET CEO and executive director, said in a news release. “We are excited to be able to present this program to the community.”
Topics will include program history, financing, partnerships and organizational structure. The deadline to apply in Sept. 22, and applications are available online.
