Public shooting range opens in Richland County

The Wateree Rifle and Pistol Range, located at 14069 Garners Ferry Road in Eastover, held a grand opening ceremony on June 21.
“We have been looking for an opportunity to build a public shooting range in the Midlands for several years, and the Wateree Rifle and Pistol Range meets this need,” Maj. Billy Downer of the S.C. Department of Natural Resources said in a news release. “Now, folks in the Midlands have a place where they can shoot safely for free.”
The new range is one of six public ranges operated by SCDNR. On average, 22,000 people visit the state ranges each year, according to the release.
The Wateree Rifle and Pistol Range will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
