A Lexington roller-skating rink will reopen Thursday under new ownership.
Sports & Skate Station, formerly SkateStation USA, has been renovated to include batting cages, basketball and in indoor driving range. Its grand re-opening will include DJs, skating competitions and other activities.
SkateStation USA opened on Oak Drive in 1987. Its closure two years ago was caused by COVID-19 pandemic constraints, according to a news release.
New owner Steve Ware is a Columbia resident and owner of local conference and camping facility River's Edge Retreat as well as Game Changers, a Christian-based nonprofit summer education and sports program.
“We really saw Sports & Skate Station as an extension of our ministry with Game Changers and Rivers Edge Retreat,” Ware said in the release. “Our goal is to provide not only a family-centered fun environment for our customers but to expand our work with children in the community and support our summer programs for them.”
Sports & Skate Station is located at 129 Oak Drive in Lexington. Thursday’s grand re-opening will be from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.
