Richland County residents can receive updates on and ask questions about the Transportation Penny Program during a virtual meeting on Thursday.

Richland County Councilman Calvin Jackson and county transportation department officials will play host to the town hall from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m.

The meeting can be accessed online at www.richlandcountysc.gov, on Facebook at www.facebook.com/RichlandSC, or on Richland County TV on Spectrum channel 1302 or AT&T U-verse channel 99.

Questions will be accepted during the town hall at rctownhall@richlandcountysc.gov, RichlandSC on Facebook and Twitter, or by phone at 803-766-5678.

In December, county officials said issues raised in an audit of the program by the S.C. Department of Revenue were being addressed. The 2017 audit questioned spending on some Penny Tax programs.

In 2018, the county froze spending on projects involving the Small Local Business Enterprise program as well as money spent on two public relations firms and a mentor program.
