Wet Willie’s, a popular bar in Columbia’s Vista district, has closed its doors. Management announced over the weekend that Jan. 8 would be the venue’s last night of operation.

The bar, known for its wide selection of frozen daiquiris, initially opened 15 years ago and was located at 800 Gervais St.

Management announced on social media that they had made the “difficult decision” not to renew the lease at the Gervais Street location but indicated the possibility of reopening at another location in the Columbia area.

Founded in 1990, the Wet Willie’s chain offers a wide selection of frozen daiquiris with flavors like “Shock Treatment” and “Attitude Improvement,” as well as a menu that includes nachos, quesadillas, burgers, sandwiches and other items. The Vista location hosted popular events such as charity fundraisers and a Halloween party.

The chain still has a South Carolina presence in Myrtle Beach and Beaufort, as well as other locations in Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Tennessee and New Jersey.
