The Richland County Transportation Department will review proposed projects in Blythewood to be funded by the county’s penny tax program during a public meeting Wednesday.

The meeting, to be held form 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Doko Manor, will review proposed sidewalks and bike lanes for McNulty Street between Blythewood Road and Main Street. Other upgrades proposed for Creech Road include a shared-use path and an approximately 0.3-mile extension southeast to Main Street.

Residents are encouraged to drop in to the open-house format meeting to view maps and drawings of the proposed projects and to discuss the proposals with project managers and the design team. Social distancing measures will remain in effect.

“I am extremely excited to see these Penny Projects begin in the town of Blythewood,” Richand County Councilman Derrek Pugh said in a news release. “The upcoming public hearing will give our community members insight into the projected outcomes of these projects.”

Residents can also submit written feedback beginning Wednesday until June 10 via email at TransportationPenny@richlandcountysc.gov or by mail to Richland County Transportation Department, P.O. Box 192, Columbia, S.C., 29201.

More information on the Blythewood projects is available online.
